Today’s game looms as an important contest for South and West with the Roos hoping to stay in touch with league leader North and the Robins wanting to regain that winning formula.

The Roos were very impressive last week; their forward half was like clockwork with ten individual goal kickers. Schorn has been in outstanding form in the opening four rounds and with Corey spending plenty of time inside 50 it has become a potent two-pronged attack.

Throw into the mix players such as Staker, the O’Brien boys, Dunn and Caldwell, who can all rotate through the forward 50, and it is a dangerous mix.

For the Robins to have a big chance their back half must be at the top of their game. While Blore has been very good and Naden and Kennedy have shown signs, they need to blend as one with Zanette back.

If Rose can come up from his injury sustained last week the Robins have the clay - it has to be molded.

Again the contest in the middle is the most important. The Roos are likely to go with Dolan, Dunn and Mackiewicz, with Higgins taking the ruck duties again a very formidable unit in the square.

The Robins will look to McCunnie, Agius, and Hayden to back up the big fella Matt Nelson, who we all know is going to get his hand on the footy more times than not, so the West midfielders must be prepared to work overtime.

Whether it is an option to tag Dolan to curb his influence is another question.

The Robins really did struggle inside 50 last week with Ryan the only forward willing to work. The rest are all fringe players and they need to be ball getters, attack the footy and the player with the ball to keep it inside 50.

They must stand up and put their body on the line and not wait for someone else to do it. If the Robins’ forwards sit back today then Neal, Mackney, Staker and Bird will run right over the top of them and set up scoring chances down field.

The Roos know that they are again around the mark and a game like this one where they expect to win and I expect them to be in front at the final siren.

The Robins will need to turn a lot of things around today if they are going to win.
