Hot on the heels of her performance at the Australian Age National Swimming Championships, local swimmer Ellysia Oldsen has broken a South Australian Staterecord.
The Silver City Swim Club captain, who was competing at the NSW All Schools State Swimming Championships on Monday last week, broke the 15 years age-group 50m butterfly in a personal best time of 28.67 seconds.
Ellysia now holds three state records - two SA long course and one NSW Combined High Schools state record.
The year 10 Willyama High School student represented CHS at the championships which were held at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.
In addition to her record, Ellysia won two gold and a bronze medal, to secure a position in the NSW state team for 2011.
She will now compete at the School Sport Australia National Swimming Championships in Melbourne from July 31 to August 5.
Ellysia was selected to swim in three individual events - 50m butterfly, backstroke and freestyle - as well as the NSW "A" medley and freestyle relay teams.
Her coach, Ricky Shore, was very impressed with Ellysia's performances, considering she was not well, yet still managed to record the fastest female 50m butterfly time of the entire meet.
The SCSC will next be represented by up and coming junior swimmer Tom Fleming (9) at the JX Swim Meet Series (11 years and under) being held in Adelaide on May 15.
