Nothing will be given to you on a silver tray and both sides will have to earn the points here.
North at the moment sit on top of the ladder with South only half a game behind in second place. While North have a far better percentage it will count for nothing today.
It is pretty simple, if North win they will go a game and a half (plus percentage) ahead of South, but if the Roos can win they will jump into top spot by half a game.
It really has all the ingredients to be a great game and one that should not be missed by supporters.
Both sides have plenty of match winners. The Roos up forward are likely to start with Schorn, Corey and Boland. With a number of players mixing it up inside the forward 50 at any time, this makes them dangerous for opposing defensive units.
North’s back half has been pretty good with Dempster leading from the front, while Garrick and Oldsen have been good. They will need Fenton to find some form to contain the South forwards. The battle in the midfield is where it gets exciting. North’s Kelly, Howard and Johnson are up against Dolan, Dunn and Caldwell plenty of talent on show and worth the admittance fee just in the square.
Put simply, North’s forwards must play well enough to kick a winning score so Billings, Mason, Henderson and Bates must all play well. But there will be no beer and skittles with Bird, Vlatko, Staker and the O’Brien boys out to make life very tough for the North forwards.
This really has the lot: two in-form sides going head-to-head for top spot with great match-ups all over the ground.
The Roos are hard to beat on their own ground and I reckon they will get the points in a close one.
South by 6 points
