A motivational speaker is in the city to share her secrets to success in running a business.

Businesswoman, Michelle Cowan, has been invited to town by the Enterprise Development Centre for MicroBiz week which runs from May 30 to June 3.

Steve Miller, Executive Officer of the EDC, said a micro businesses was one that had few employees, such as the owner working from home or having one or two employees.

He said Mrs Cowan's talk should be "very entertaining".

At 21 she became Australia's first female Western Australian Football League assistant coach. At 23 she managed 150 staff in a $10.3 million Leisure Centre redevelopment and at 25 she became the Managing Director of her own company.

Ms Cowen is now a mother of two and tonight will be sharing her views on women in business.

"I'd like to encourage business people, stay at home mums and dads and students to all come along and I'm sure you will take something away from my story."

Mrs Cowan will speak at the Democratic Club at 8am. Seminars on customer service, advertising and marketing, from a local point of view, will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.
