Junior football players will face a change to their eating habits this weekend.
The Junior Football League has organised a healthy eating round, where aspiring AFL players in the Auskick competition will swap the chips for an apple and a muesli bar.
League chairman Scott Dunn said the idea was prompted by several broken bones and injuries on the field in the higher grades.
“We’re looking at increasing a bit of calcium,” Mr Dunn said.
“We’ll be offering them with a piece of fruit, a muesli bar and a glass of milk.
“We’re hoping they’ll take it on board.”
He said Woolworths have supplied the fruit, and Foodland the muesli bars
