About 40 students from the Silver City Dance Academy attended the Mildura Eisteddfod and took out a swag of awards.

Owner of the Academy, Kristil Cowdrey, said all of the troupe’s performances won first prize or came second.

“The solo kids did good as well, most of them placed,” Mrs Cowdrey said.

“They did so well. It wasn’t just about winning; it was about representing Broken Hill and the school.”

Mrs Cowdrey said the students also took part in a two-hour workshop with the Eisteddfod adjudicator, which was “good for the girls”.

The dance academy is holding its first concert tonight at the Civic Centre.

The “Legends” concert is a tribute to music legends like Michael Jackson, ABBA and Pink, Mrs Cowdrey said.

It will start at 7pm and tickets will be sold at the door for $15.

Mrs Cowdrey said there will be performances from three-year-old girls right through to open ages.

“Some of the girls who performed solos at the Mildura Eisteddfod will be redoing them,” she said.

There will be doing tap, contemporary and jazz and there will also be songs from guest artists.
