Thursday, 2nd July, 2009
Mr Hall was inducted as president at the club's annual changeover dinner at the Democratic Club on Saturday night. He takes over from Paul Armstrong.
The other board members for the coming year are Brian Slater, Peter Stonham, Marg Lesjak, John Doyle, Lyn Lynch and Michael Schultzer.
The past 12 months have been busy for the club whose charter includes providing assistance to the needy and improving the local environment.
The club, which organised various fundraising and support barbecues throughout the year, made donations of cash and equipment worth almost $15,000.
Earlier this year it was involved in a successful drug and alcohol forum which resulted in selected groups receiving a Government grant worth some $250,000.
Apart from gelping the community through Rotary, many members are involved in various other committees or organisations that aim to improve outcomes for such things as regional development, and health and disability services.
During the changeover dinner, certificates of merit and appreciation were presented to Bill Parker, Tony Hiscox, Eugene Odgers, Marg Lesjak and Peter Stonham for their outstanding service over the past year.
The first community service event under the new president was held on Sunday when Rotary members cooked a barbecue breakfast for the post office's re-enactment of the nation's first delivery of mail by truck - from Broken Hill to Menindee in 1911.
