A 43-year-old fence fell victim to Monday night’s earthquake, according to Morish Street resident, Kym Hunter.

He told the BDT that he discovered the damage when he woke up yesterday morning.

Mr Hunter, 58, said he didn’t even feel the quake or hear the fence come crashing down.

“My dog, she jumped out of her bed, over to the front door and went psycho,” he said.

“We had the TV on so we didn’t actually feel it.”

Mr Hunter said he would be putting a call into his insurance company.

“I should imagine it would cost a bit.

“I hope the insurance company comes to the party.”

But for now the fence lays crumbled on the side of his corner property, a reminder of the tremor which shook up his home of eight years this week.

“There’s a bit of work here. I’ll have to get the old sledge hammer out.”
