Man, 25, ‘moons police’

A 25-year-old man who allegedly exposed himself to two police officers faces a string of charges including assaulting police.

Police said yesterday the trouble started about 2am in Argent Street when police approached a group of 60 or 70 people waiting outside the Theatre Royal Hotel.

The man allegedly pulled down his pants and exposed his backside to the two officers, including a female officer, before refusing to leave the area.

Police said when the man was arrested he became abusive and, when being walked into the police station, he allegedly charged at an officer.

Once inside police said the man urinated in the dock.

He was charged with offensive conduct, fail to comply with a direction, resist arrest, intimidate police and malicious damage.

Meanwhile, police said another man was given an on-the-spot fine for failing to quit a licenced premises and a third man received a warning for urinating in Argent Street yesterday morning.
