Star line-up for Red Desert Live!
Monday, 27th July, 2009
Red Desert Live has confirmed a number of support acts for its 2009 festival.
Joining one of the country's foremost contemporary pop divas, Kate Ceberano, for the October 3 event at the racecourse is a list of popular interstate and local performers.
Supporting artists include singer-songwriter Neil Murray, author of the Aussie classic "My Island Home", as well as local Kate Osman, South Australia's Laura Hill and the Tuesday Bandits, and Off the Handle from Mildura.
Willyama High School students will also take to the stage in a number of performances, in addition to a range of other local acts to be announced soon.
The day will also feature the Blue Sky Red Earth Food Expo, free children's activities and local digital artwork exhibited by the Broken Hill Art Exchange.
A number of other coinciding events will take place around town on Sunday and the full program for the weekend's activities will be released soon.
Red Desert Live! publicity officer Jason King said the organising committee was excited about the opportunity to see a variety of quality music in such an intimate setting.
"Red Desert Live! 2009 is a rare opportunity to experience an Australian icon performing under the stars in the magic of the Australian desert," he said.
"Kate Ceberano is one of the most sought after performers in the country right now so to be able to bring her and her full band to Broken Hill in 2009 complemented by such an extensive and varied supporting musical line-up is awesome.
"The ticket price is great value for money. What could be better than celebrating the desert with friends, food, and over eight hours of non-stop music?"
Tickets for Saturday's entertainment at the racecourse are $65 from GB Records, BH Music and Bell's Milk Bar.
Groups of ten can buy tickets for $55 each if they purchase before September 1. Children under 12 are free.
