Hospitality students up for a challenge
Monday, 1st August, 2011
Hospitality students at Broken Hill High School will cater for close to 100 people as part of the launch of Education Week next week.
The 15 Year 11 students will prepare canapes for the opening at the Regional Art Gallery on Monday at 5pm.
Principal Geoff Webb said the students will also soon cater for the school’s Extravaganza concert where 150 people will be served a three-course meal.
“At the moment they’ve been catering for staff lunches,” he said.
Education Week promotes the good work happening in schools across NSW.
Year 11 student, Courtnee Ferguson, said the pressure was not really getting to her.
“It’ll be fun - I love making food,” she said.
The catering exercise comes as the high school recently installed a brand new, $1million kitchen for the hospitality class.
