With Saturday's heavy metal concert proving a success, local bands are now being invited to take the stage for the upcoming Battle of the Bands. A big crowd was in attendance at last weekend's concert that featured Lord, Soulforge and Makeshift Plague, indicating that there is sufficient interest for a follow-up event. The Battle of the Bands will be held at the Entertainment Centre on June 20, with bands able to nominate in the 'Competing' or 'Performing' category. Bands in the Performing category will be playing purely for entertainment, while competing bands will face off against rivals for a place in a regional finals concert at Dubbo. All band members wishing to take part in the competing category must be under 25 years of age.

"Indent" band member Dustin Mitchell said the event was a good opportunity to showcase the depth of local musical talent.

"It's a great chance for young kids to get out there and get known, and have a chance to head to Dubbo and play in the regional finals," he said.

Bands wishing to nominate for the event must do so by June 5 by contacting Council youth worker Scott Hammond on 8080 3591.
