Broken Hill Public School opened its doors to parents yesterday - much to the delight of the students.

Parents were invited to join in activities with their children as part of Education Week which winds up tomorrow.

Kindergarten teacher Shara Perry said the day was a chance to promote public education and also get parents involved with their children’s learning.

She said parents and carers were able to see what their children did on a day-to-day basis, while children got a chance to show off their art and book work.

Yesterday’s activities included doing jigsaws, art and craft, mathematics and computer programs among other things.

“Different classes did different activities,” Ms Perry said.

She said the students in her class were excited to have their parents visit.

The open day was for Infant classes, Kindergarten through to Year 2. Today an open day will be held for the Primary students in Year 3-6.

“They were really keen and excited to show their parents what they have been doing,” Ms Perry said.
