Snakes on the move soon

A local snake handler claims snake season will return sooner than locals expect.
Adam Stewart said the warmer than normal weather the city experienced over the last several days will see snakes slither into the city earlier than normal.
“Plus the rodent plague means numbers are going to be up because it’ll entice them to come into town,” he said.
The King Brown and Shield Nose Snake are just two of the varieties attracted to the local climate and surrounds.
Mr Stewart said there were things people could do to make their home less attractive to snakes, such as cleaning up weeds and rubbish, pruning shrubs and mopping out water outdoors.
“Don’t try and kill it,” he warned. Attempting to murder the reptile leads to most un-suspecting individuals being bitten, he said.
“In the next few weeks I’ll be getting a lot of calls. They don’t like it over hot; they’ll go for shade.
“If it’s been a good season, they’ll hang out in the bush.”
