The city’s newest electrical store, Dick Smith, opened yesterday.

The first day of trading attracted hundreds of shoppers to the store in Centro Westside.

The centre’s newest shop takes up three spaces, equating to close to 400 square metre of floor space.

Computers, televisions, cameras and Blu-Ray DVD players are just part of the stock the much anticipated store carries.

Manager Danika Kolinac said she expected the store to be popular.

“The other retailers need more competition,” she told the BDT.

Dick Smith, which was started by the entrepreneur of the same name, now employs more than 2000 people across Australia.

The store, which opens seven days week, will hold its grand opening in two weeks.
