Hit comedy all about mums
Tuesday, 6th September, 2011
For anyone who is, has or knows a mother (and who doesn’t?), “Motherhood the Musical” is for you.
The hilarious, musical journey about the lives of four mums will be staged at the Civic Centre tomorrow night.
There’s an over-worked, underpaid, stressed-out mother of five; a lawyer who works too much and barely sees her kids; a single mum struggling to balance work, her family and her divorce; and finally a young woman about to have her first child.
As the three friends throw a baby shower for the mum-to-be, the truth about motherhood come out into the open: the nappies, the dirty laundry, the lazy husbands, juggling the demands of children and a career and everything in between.
The show that has received rave reviews overseas was written by award-winning singer/songwriter Sue Fabisch and features 20 songs including her Top 10 comedy hit “The Kids Are Finally Asleep”.
Rebecca Moore, who plays Amy the mum-to-be, said everything had been going really well since the cast started touring in February in Western Australia.
“This leg of the tour we have been going from town to town, in and out of different states and different places. There has been a lot of travelling,” Ms Moore said.
She said the musical had been doing especially well in country towns.
“We’ve been really well-received,” she said.
“I really enjoy doing this. It is really challenging because you are on stage all the time. There is a lot of singing and lot of concentration required.
“It has been a great learning experience and I still enjoy it.”
Ms Moore said locals can expect to get a good laugh and a fantastic night out.
Motherhood The Musical will be on tour for 45 weeks this year in Australia and will continue next year.
The show begins tonight at 8 and tickets cost $48 for adults, $45 concession/ Aged Pension Card Holders; and $25 for children 16 and under.
