The dulcet tones of the Community Voices may now be heard around the world on video-sharing website, YouTube.

Songs including ‘Solidarity’ and the ‘Red Flag’ were sung at the grave of trade unionist, rebel MP and local hero, Percy Brookfield, on Saturday.

The eight singers were filmed to show the city’s union roots to the world, according to cameraman Hugh Gough.

Mr Gough last year launched his website visitbrokenhill.com

It hosts videos ranging from local tentpegging to Malcolm Turnbull’s comments on Broken Hill.

“Broken Hill is the crucible of the trade union movement around the world,” Mr Gough said.

“One of the most important parts of Broken Hill is the amount of history that we’ve got.

“The intent is to increase visitor numbers and therefore add to the local economy.”

Since February, the site’s YouTube channel has had 1,127 views of its 24 uploaded videos.
