Children taste holiday fun

The first day of the school holidays yesterday had children involved in a range of fun activities. 

The PCYC started its holiday activities with the theme ‘Countries of the World’. 

Each day children will learn about a different country and even get a chance to try out the cuisine.

The City Library will hold free sessions tomorrow and next Wednesday, October 5 at 10.30am. 

They will go until about 11.45am and will focus on things to make and do with recycled material. For more information phone 8080 3460. 

Kids can also sign up at the YMCA for a variety of activities ranging from cooking and dancing to pottery classes. 

The program costs $35 for days spent in and $47 for excursion days. Parents may visit the YMCA to sign up at least two days in advance. 

For teenagers and young adults there is a TAFE ArtStart Intiative workshop which starts next week. It teaches film-making, story-telling, song writing and movement and is run by industry professionals. 

It will be held from 10am to 4pm from Monday to Saturday. To register, contact West Darling Arts on 8087 9035.

At the Regional Art Gallery, a children’s two-day workshop will be held on Wednesday and Thursday next week from 10am to 2pm. 

Called “Diorama-rama”, it will have kids making models and learning about spatial awareness and colour.
