A cake stall and raffle will be held at Centro Westside Plaza on Saturday to raise money for people in strife-torn Somalia.
The cake stall is the second in a series of fundraisers organised by the Liberty Christian Church to support the cause through World Vision.
Organiser Andrea Blundell said she was touched by the city’s generosity at the first fundraiser, a garage sale and sausage sizzle, which raised $2000.
Coin collection tins had also been filling.
“The support from the town was amazing and the majority of people were so generous,” Mrs Blundell said.
“They just opened their purses and gave.”
Tickets for Saturday’s raffle can be bought on the day for $1 and the prize includes toys, kitchen products, make-up and more - all of which was donated by local shops.
The prize also comes with a painting by Mrs Blundell and one by fellow artist Amanda Johnston.
Mrs Blundell said that a good variety of cakes would be available.
“We’ve got heaps like carrot cake, different slices, different types of quiches - all different types,” she said.
Volunteers will also be walking around the plaza with collection tins.
