Die-hard Collingwood supporter Gavin Kersten will join the faithful at the MCG tomorrow when the Magpies play Geelong in the Grand Final.

Gavin attended his first VFL Grand Final in 1970 and paid 50 cents for standing room tickets.

“We went to every grand final after that,” he said, and even attended two in the same year.

“In 1977 we drew with North Melbourne so we had to go back and watch them get flogged.”

But tomorrow’s battle for top honours will be no “cakewalk for the good old Collingwood”, as the club song goes, said Gavin.

“I think it’s going to be a tight game for both of them.

“They’ve both been the two top teams but it’ll be a different game altogether.

“The Grand Final is a different game of football.”

He says he’ll return home quickly if they lose but stay on a day if the black-and-whites get up.
