The search is on for a worthy nominee to be inducted into the Silver City Cup’s ‘Wall of Fame’ at this year’s race meeting.
Silver Cup Committee Secretary Manager, Kylie Casey, said the ‘Wall of Fame’ was used to honour past champions, man or horse, living or deceased, in the Broken Hill and surrounding districts.
The Silver City Cup ‘Wall of Fame’ occurs every two years and a plaque will be placed on the wall in the Wayne Krutli Members Bar in honour of the inductee.
Mrs Casey said nominations for the ‘Wall of Fame’ were now open and will remain open until Friday, October 14.
Previous nominations will be re-entered for consideration unless the Committee is advised otherwise.
The final inductees will be announced at the Silver City Cup meeting on WS Cox Plate Day on October 22.
“The inductees will forever be recognised for their contribution to local racing. We want as many nominations as possible, so put on your thinking caps and get a nomination form today,” Mrs Casey said.
Nomination forms are available at the St Patrick’s Club office at 399 Crystal Street or by calling 8087 3828.
The Committee is also calling for expression of interests for the purchase of the Silver City Cup artwork designed by Wayne Williams, a local artist.
“The artwork is on our posters and brochures and was kindly designed and donated by Wayne Williams,” Mrs Casey said.
Anyone who is interested in the purchase or viewing of the framed artwork can come into the St Patrick’s Club Hall at 399 Crystal Street or phone 8087 3828.
