BH clubs urged to chase the cash
Friday, 21st October, 2011
BH sporting clubs have just 10 days to take advantage of a new funding scheme offering up to $1000 in grants.
The Betfair Cash 4 Clubs program offers flexible financial support for clubs, allowing them to spend funding as they see fit.
The grants can be used on anything from equipment and coaching resources to club infrastructure or fundraisers.
Funding is open to clubs from all sporting codes, and applications will be judged by cricket legend Greg Chappell, AFL Community Facility Development Manager, Ken Gannon, and Wests Tigers 2005 premiership winning forward, John Skandalis.
Mr Chappell said he was proud to be invovled and stressed the importance of sport in the community.
“Any activity that helps out local sporting clubs and allows more people to get involved in sport is fantastic,” he said.
“The Betfair Cash 4 Clubs initiative is a great example of this, and I encourage all sporting clubs, no matter your size or location to apply for these monetary grants.”
His comments were echoed by Betfair CEO, Andrew Twaits, who predicted the scheme would give sporting clubs across the country a big boost.
“We believe very strongly in the value of grass roots community sport and Cash 4 Clubs has been conceived to give amateur clubs around Australia a helping hand,” Mr Twaits said.
“Sport plays a vital role in people’s lives - from maintaining fitness, promoting teamwork and boosting self-esteem - and it’s important that sports clubs around the country remain a hub of enjoyment and participation within the community.”
Applications for a grant of up to $1000 can be made at cash4clubs.betfair.com.au.
Clubs must be registered with their sport’s national governing body or local authority in order to apply. Applications close October 30.
