Priscilla fans to pour into Palace

Next year the city can expect to be inundated by Priscilla Queen of the Desert fans.
In March a train trip called ‘Queens’ on the Indian Pacific will make its way from Adelaide to Sydney for the Sydney Mardi Gras.
It will stop over in Broken Hill for an exclusive ‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert experience’ at the Palace Hotel.
The Palace’s Esther La Rovere said it would be the first of many Priscilla tours coming to the city.
She said many tourists came to the Palace because of its links to the movie.
“People who know often beeline to us to have a drink, or tourists that wander around just wander in,” she said.
Ms La Rovere said the film was still popular even though it was made 17 years ago.
“It’s a funny one. Maybe it’s the inner desire to put on an outrageous frock and go to the desert,” Ms La Rovere said.
“It is about having fun and being outrageous.”
She said she was also keen to hear from any local talent who might be interested in performing and would welcome any drag costumes that people might like to donate.
“I would love a short act, maybe somebody who loves to get into drag and perform.
“Any drag queens or head dress makers that have old drag outfits they no long want, I would be certainly interested.”
