Monday, 1st September, 2008
Burke Ward student Amber Harvey's artwork is on show all over the city.
On Friday Amber was officially announced as the winner of City Council's poster competition. Her winning entry has been used to create a poster advertising the city's upcoming 125th anniversary celebrations.
General Manager of City Council Frank Zaknich said 120 entries had been received."We got a lot of great entries. Finalists received a cash prize and Amber's work is now plastered all over the city," he said.
"The competition was open to everybody but we received a lot of entries from schools - art teachers really got behind it."
Amber, 11, said she loved drawing and was ecstatic to have won.
After deciding to draw on the theme of mining, she researched using the internet to come up with her work.
