International Day of People with a disability
Thursday, 4th December, 2008
A good number of locals helped celebrate International Day of People with a Disability in the Town Square yesterday.
The celebrations included giveaways, information displays, a free sausage sizzle and a photography competition.
The musical entertainment was provided by ABBA Girls Experience, much to the delight of many in the crowd who sang and danced along to the popular tunes.
Several organisations including City Council, community groups and their clients participated in the event which had the theme of "Don't DIS my ABILITY."
International Day of People with a Disability is a world-wide celebration that is held on December 3 each year.
It provides an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the local contributions made by people with a disability.
