Friday, 11th July, 2008
What makes a happy home was the focus of a creative workshop for children held at the Art Gallery this week. The “Happy Homes” diorama workshop explored what makes children happy and healthy.
The participants were invited to express what they thought a home was and what makes them happy, according to artist Sue Reynolds. “It can be the place we live or the place we belong, or where our family is,” said Ms Reynolds.
During the two-day workshop, the children came up with various concepts and created their own 3Ddiorama of a “happy home” to reflect their thoughts. “We got their artistic skills going by being creativeand it helped remind them what makes them happy,” said Ms Reynolds. The workshop finished yesterday with a barbecue.
Next week the gallery is running a Giant Glowing Dreamtime Creature Lantern workshop. For more information phone 8080 3440.
