Police ride for a stricken mate
Wednesday, 16th July, 2008
Local police are asking everyone to join them in a ride for Shelley.
Shelley Walsh is a NSW Police Officer serving in Parkes. Earlier this month she returned to her parent's home in Cowra to find her two young children and mother murdered. She sustained serious injuries when she was also attacked. The NSW Police Commissioner and President of the Police Association of NSW have endorsed a community appeal to assist Shelley in her time of need.
Next month members of the Barrier Local Area Command will conduct a bicycle ride from Broken Hill to Silverton to help raise money for her.
Everyone is invited to join in.
The ride is on Sunday August 3 and takes off from the Sunbeam Deli in Brookfield Avenue at 10am.
NSW Ambulance Service and NSW Fire Brigade will be on hand to assist riders, and a free sausage sizzle will be available for riders and families to enjoy after the ride at the Silverton Hotel.
Entry costs $10 for adults and $5 for young people. Under 12s ride for free. All money raised will go towards Shelley Walsh.
Donations and registrations can be made a Westpac Bank or on the day.
