Celtic grooming its juniors
Saturday, 17th May, 2008
The Celtic Soccer Club will maintain its focus on developing junior players this weekend during a special soccer camp at the racecourse. The camp was held with great success last year, and around 40 children have signed on again for this year's event. They will take part in a series of skills and fitness drills with the club's senior male and female players on Saturday before competing in a scratch match on Sunday.
Camp organiser and Celtic President, Marg Symes, said last year's camp proved beneficial for all involved and participants can expect plenty of fun and food again this year."It's a lot of fun. The kids get some skills out of it, and there'll be plenty of food," said Ms Symes.
"Someone was quoted last year as saying that it was actually more of a food festival with some soccer thrown in.
"But we get the seniors to come along and help out. It's a bit of a social event for them and they get to guide the kids on their way up to being senior players."
Any Celtic juniors wishing to be involved in the camp can contact Ms Symes on 8087 6569.
