Forty paddles, forty days and forty pubs
Monday, 18th August, 2008
On August 25, two lads from Sydney will grab their kayaks, kiss the big smoke goodbye, and begin an epic journey of 40 paddles and 40 pubs in 40 days.
Scott Rawstorne and Geoff Greenwood aim to find the best places to kayak and then let the world know about them through a web site they have created called Escapology (www.escapology.com.au).
Not too far from Broken Hill are two of the places that they want to explore and promote as part of this odyssey that starts in Rylstone and snakes its way through NSW before finishing in Ballina on October 3.
The trip will also raise money for Heartfelt House, an organisation based in northern NSW that provides support to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, their family and friends (www.heartfelthouse.org.au).
Anyone who would like to meet up with the boys, and maybe buy a raffle ticket or two, can find them paddling on Lake Wetherell from Copi Hollow on Wednesday, September 17, and the Darling River north of Tilpa on Thursday the 18th. At the end of each day they also hope to drop into a local for a beer and a yarn.
