Local artist Jenny Cattonar has received recognition in Queensland after impressing judges from the Artisans' Guild of Caboolture and District.
Ms Cattonar entered two pieces in the Caboolture "Medieval Masterpiece Exhibition", which required artists to replicate famous historical artworks.
Her oil painting of Titian's Saint Mary Magdalene won the Master Artisans' award.
Ms Cattonar's second piece - an oil on timber copy of the Portrait of Suzanne Bourbon by the Master of Moulins - was highly commended.
The artist of 30 years said both pieces had been difficult, with the finer details of the winning portrait most painstaking.
"I love doing them. It's always a real challenge... but doing the hair was very difficult," she said.
"I like to do hair my own way, and it was a real challenge to do it this way."
Ms Cattonar said she was elated to see her hard work pay off, and to garner just a little fame north of the border.
"It's really good to win it. I was very surprised," she said.
"To win an award is great... I'm thrilled to bits."
