Scouts out and about
Wednesday, 21st May, 2008
For the next five weeks the 3rd BH Sea Scouts will be available to do odd jobs in return for payment. It's all to do with Scout Job Week - which is actually running until July 31 in Broken Hill.
Local co-ordinator Jo-Anne Warhurst said the local group decided one week wasn't long enough. "We wanted more involvement and to get more out of it," she said. Ms Warhurst said that while the main focus was on smaller jobs like cleaning windows, mowing lawns and sweeping paths, larger jobs would also be tackled.
"They can be for the individual or if a local business can provide a worthwhile project that will involve the whole group, we then encourage you to book the job in at your local Scout Group," she said. Scout Job Week now has over 5,000 scout members participating across NSW.
Money raised is used to upgrade equipment such as tents, canoes and abseiling gear or to refurbish Scout halls and help fund Scout activities such as annual camps and Jamborees.
Anyone with a job suitable for Scouts can contact Ms Warhurst on 8088 2359 or 0427 882 359.
