Two charged with Murder
Tuesday, 25th March, 2008
Two men have been charged with murder following the discovery of a man's body in a burnt-out home on Friday.
Police and the BH Fire Brigade arrived at the Morgan Lane home at about 7am to find it well alight.
After the blaze was extinguished, the body of a 61-year-old man was found inside the home.
A crime scene was established and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death were conducted by detectives from the Barrier
Local Area Command and the State Crime Command's Homicide and Arson Squads.
Following inquiries, police arrested and charged two men, aged 27 and 35, with one count each of murder.
The men, both from Broken Hill, appeared briefly in the local court on Sunday and yesterday where they were refused bail and remanded in custody.
They will return to court today and on April 1.
Police have urged locals to stay away from the Morgan Lane house. They said while it was no longer a crime scene, it was very dangerous due to the fire damage.
