Silver City Swim Club team member Ellysia Oldsen won gold and silver medals at Sydney Olympic Park on the weekend.
She also qualified to swim at the Australian National Swimming Championships to be held in Brisbane in April.
Competing at the NSW Country Swimming Championships, Ellysia won the 12 years 100m butterfly in a slick 1.09.53, two seconds ahead of the rest of the field. She is now eligible to swim in the 13 and under division at the National Swimming Championships and will have two years in that age-group.
Ellysia is one of the youngest swimmers ever from Broken Hill to qualify for national titles. Her silver medal was achieved in the 100m backstroke (1.13.02). She also finished fourth in the 100m breaststroke final and eighth in the 100m freestyle final, recording personal best times.
