Hydro pool open longer

People now have greater access to the city’s hydrotherapy pool after City Council extended the opening hours at the new facility.
Council’s General Manager, Frank Zaknich, said that since the warm water exercise pool was opened to the public in early December it had proven increasingly popular.
Mr Zaknich said that there had also been a number of requests for unrestricted access to the pool.
After consideration of these requests, and a review of the operating hours, Council had decided to extend the public access to the warm water exercise pool by an extra 90 minutes each day, he said.
The pool will now be available for general use from 6:30am to 9:30am each morning and from 6:30pm to 8:00pm each evening.
The new operating times came into effect on Saturday.
“It is pleasing to see that the warm water exercise pool is being well utilised by the public,” said Mr Zaknich.
Usage of all facilities at the redeveloped Aquatic Centre will continue to be monitored by Council to determine if further changes to operating hours are warranted, he said.
The conditions under which the pool will be made available for exclusive use or hire are still under consideration by Council.
