Shinglebacks give kids a helping hand
Tuesday, 6th March, 2012
The city’s junior footballers have received a welcome kick along after the Shinglebacks made a major donation to every club.
The Shinglebacks were on hand at Saturday’s junior registration day to donate $500 each to the four clubs to assist with junior AFL equipment.
Shingleback Secretary, Peter Nash, also presented each club with two Howard Steer prints celebrating the Shinglebacks first game in July 5, 2008.
The clubs will raffle these prints at junior football to help raise additional funds.
Mr Nash said prints could also be purchased from him for $100 each.
The gesture is one of the many ways the Shinglebacks will continue their involvement with junior football in 2012.
The Lizards will also umpire junior Aussie Rules as required, and have also offered to run a coaching skills session during the season at each club.
On the social side, the Shinglebacks have also pencilled in a night out at each of the four clubs.
“With all the changes unfolding in local AFL for season 2012, the Shinglebacks are very keen to be involved as much as possible,” said Mr Nash.
