Miraga Day Care Centre has celebrated an early St Patrick’s Day with activities that would make anyone “green with envy”.

Clients and staff at the UnitingCare Ageing’s centre adopted a green theme for their weekly bingo game yesterday.

The hall was decorated with green streamers and balloons donated by the St Pat’s Race Committee and everyone was in fancy dress and enjoyed a barbecue lunch that included green patty cakes.

UnitingCare Ageing is a non-profit organization that provides a range of government subsidised community aged care services to elderly people in BH, Menindee and Ivanhoe.

The hours and types of services can be tailored to meet each individual client’s needs and includes case management, personal care, medication assistance, community nursing, social support, dementia support, carer respite, palliative care and pastoral care.

Far West Community Care Manager, Paul McDonald, said everyone had a good time dressing up.

“The clients and staff are getting into the swing of things,” Mr McDonald said.

“We’ve also got a good crowd with at least 18 clients.”

Mr McDonald said there were vacancies in all of the programs.

“So if people know of elderly people, family members or friends who they think would benefit from some assistance in the home they should call into the office,” he said.
