Broken Hill’s own Lisa Kickett has been selected as a preliminary finalist in the Miss Universe Australia competition.
The 23-year-old beauty’s photos impressed a panel of judges and she has scored the opportunity to compete in the national beauty pageant.
Lisa and other preliminary finalists will be required to model swimwear, a cocktail dress and evening gown at the Macquarie Centre in Sydney later this month for a chance to become a national finalist.
One national finalist will be chosen to go on to the international Miss Universe pageant which is owned by Donald Trump and NBC - the competition Jennifer Hawkins won in 2004.
Protalent Australia General Manager Sloane Howard nominated Lisa for the national contest and said she was pleased to see Lisa make the cut.
“She’s very excited but I think the lovely thing about Lisa is she’s a very humble person.
“She’s been chosen out of thousands and thousands of entries.”
Ms Howard said Lisa was a “beautiful girl.”
“She’s intelligent, she is a fantastic role model for the young women of today.
“She’s very sophisticated and she’s very friendly.
“She’s just got a nice, warm personality.”
Ms Howard will work with Lisa further to help her refine her posture and deportment, as well as her public speaking skills ahead of the next stage of the competition.
“Miss Universe is a representative.... she needs to be a good public speaker, have good manners, good social skills, be articulate and intelligent.
“I think Miss Universe is probably all those things,” Ms Howard told the Barrier Daily Truth.”
