Broken Hill’s AFL Senior Management Committee will be making sure the grass at Jubilee Oval is a lot better after the purchase of a brand new mower.
The newly-formed committee spent $25,000 on the Toro Realmaster 55/10 which is the same mower used to manicure the MCG and some of the world’s best golf courses.
The committee’s Glenn Williams was test driving the new machine on Monday and said the ground now felt “like carpet.”
“We’ve only used it the once and there has been a fairly big improvement in the grass,” Mr Williams said.
“It’s far better than the old gang mower which didn’t cut every blade of grass.”
The old mower would also spew cuttings back onto the turf creating a layer of dead grass.
“It’s only going to get better,” Mr Williams said.
