Savannah shines in Sydney

Savannah Morris has returned from Sydney where she competed in the State Catholic Schools Swimming Carnival at the Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.

Savannah, a Year 6 student at Sacred Heart Parish Primary School, competed as part of the Wilcannia-Forbes team.

In the 100 metres freestyle Savannah pulled out a Personal Best (PB) time of 1.11.97 (finishing seventh) and swam a PB of 32.82 in the 50m freestyle to finish 5th.

In the 50m butterfly she also achieved a PB and a Gold JX time of 35.62 to finish 4th, narrowly missing a spot on the coveted Polding Swim Team. 

It was Savannah’s first swim in the Olympic pool where the 2000 Olympic Games swimming races were held. 

Savannah said she was looking forward to training over the winter season and working on more PBs for her next carnival.
