Local families can now have hours of fun with the refurbishment of the North Family Play Centre Park.

The revitalisation of the park has seen a number of new pieces of play equipment installed.

Council has set up the Konnecta, Star Surfer, Rock-it and the Bird’s Nest swing to complement the family-friendly precinct that incorporates the Broken Hill Regional Aquatic Centre.

Council’s Group Manager Infrastructure Paul DeLisio said the $30,000 refurbishment would encourage families to get out and about.

“Under Council’s parks improvement program, we have the aim of installing different equipment features at each of our parks so that we can offer relatively unique experiences across the city,” Mr DeLisio said.

“It is one of the ways we can support Active Broken Hill.

“By improving our parks we can get people to enjoy a range of facilities that encourages exercise and importantly family participation.

“The latest equipment at the North Family Play Centre Park not only provides a fun element, it can also assist with skills such as balancing, and social interaction.

“We have already received good feedback on the new equipment and we would encourage families to get active and try it out.

“Of course at all of our playgrounds we encourage adult supervision at all times.”
