Tuesday, 15th May, 2012
After some warm weather last week, locals yesterday awoke to the second coldest day this month.
The Weather Channel’s Senior Meteorologist Dick Whittaker said after last week’s highest minimum temperature on record, Broken Hill had another chilly start to the day.
Mr Whittaker said yesterday’s minimum temperature was 4.3 degrees which was the second coldest day in May this year.
“There was a cooler day on May 3, it was 3.3 degrees,” he said.
Mr Whittaker said the average maximum temperature for May is 18.9 degrees and the average minimum is 7.8 degrees.
“(Broken Hill has) had a cooler start than average,” he said.
Mr Whittaker said the forecast for the week will see no rain with a mixture of sun and cloud.
He said by the end of the week, the temperatures will reach the low twenties.
“It will be partly cloudy over the weekend and early morning cool temperatures will continue,” Mr Whittaker said.
He also said it looks likely this weather will bring in the start to winter.
