Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea has rolled around again and the people of Broken Hill are boiling their kettles to help raise money for cancer research.

St Anne’s Nursing Home has joined the fundraiser and staff member, Mary Barrie, said that the staff and their families would be chipping in today.

“The residents still benefit from this event as we bring around the leftover food for them in the afternoon. We give them an afternoon tea,” said Ms Barrie.

She said that the morning tea was important because all the money helped the research effort and made people more aware of the illness.

“Hopefully, with enough donations we can get this thing mastered.” Ms Barrie said.

St Anne’s has been holding the morning tea each year for the last ten years and it encourages others to get involved.

“It doesn’t have to be big. Even if you just have a few people around for a cuppa and put in a small donation,” Ms Barrie said.
