The word on every women's lips next month will be "liptember" - a fundraiser for women's mental health. Newly employed psychooncology counsellor for the Far West Health District, Ruby Cooke, is hosting the fundraiser.
Ms Cooke said her role involved focussing on psycho-social care and looking after the well-being of cancer patients.
Ms Cooke is from Berrigan, a small town near Deniliquin, and said she was keen to move out to another country town and hold "liptember"
"Women are often perceived as talkers but sometimes they can internalize issues and become vulnerable," she said.
"This leaves them open to depression and anxiety."
As part of "liptember", Ms Cooke will be wearing different coloured lipsticks for the month of September.
"One of my friends did the fundraiser last year and raised over $1,000 for the cause," she said.
"I am looking to get sponsors and donations.
"I think it is a really fun thing to do. A lot of the time, we take health so seriously but part of having good health is being happy and fun."
Funds raised will be donated to the Centre for Women's Mental Health and Lifeline Australia.
"If you go onto the Liptember website, you can get a lot of information and search for my profile," Ms Cooke said.
