Friday night saw a strong crowd and a great St Pats harness racing program with Raz Slater taking home the bacon twice aboard Globe Vauxall and Meganite. Both horses were driven to perfection by the handy reinsman and given every opportunity to finish on well. Trainer of the Night went to Anthony Camilleri for his winner with Daveydee, Driver of the night was Raz Slater, Best Presented horse went to Lucys Diva for Pat Attard and Run of the Night went to Globe Vauxall for Raz Slater.

Race one saw Mildura visitor Demon Dean taking an easy front from terrific gate speed. Majesticrama took a cart behind the leader. Nothing much changed mid race and Demon Dean won easily for Melinda Smith by 3.5m, taking his tally to 3 wins on the local track from Majesticrama for second and Up To Date for third. Race 2 gave Daveydee the chance to shine gathering momentum at the mobile and taking the early lead. Lady Dancealot was set up in the one one and The Jazz Man was well back in the field. Into the straight, Daveydee was given a bit of headway and won by 8.8m for the Anthony Adams-Anthony Camillieri combo. An impressive run first up after a spell. For second Lady Dancealot, who didn't get out until into the home straight and for third The Jazz Man, the other Mildura Visitor. The First heats were run in good time of 2.05.6 over the 1900m journey.

Race 3 saw a late scratching in Willos All That so a small field of five was started. Barnover Cecil flew the gate to lead and ran the field along. Lucys Diva sat behind the leader and after a fair bit of work Rocktomorrow took the death seat. A lap from home Rocktomorrow stated to drop off giving Lucys Diva the opportunity to come out. Into the straight Lucys Diva took the lead winning by a neck for Kate Attard from a fast finishing Wrath Of Pain for the Shane Smith-Darren McInnes combination. Barnover Cecil ran third for Ray Oates.

The second of the Sturt Club Cup Heats began in great fashion with Globe Vauxall coming out strongly to lead from the rest of the field. No changes took place until into the final lap when Call Me Winston was out three wide and Bubble Wrap had commenced his run. Into the straight it was all Globe Vauxall for the Raz Man who steered him to victory by 3.5m from a fast finishing Bubblewrap, who will be one of the ones to watch out for in the Cup and for third Call Me Winston who ran a mighty race. A mile rate of 2.06.3 for the second heat over the 1900m journey.

The final race on the cards saw Meganite and the race favourite Slush fund battle it out for the lead with Meganite holding him out. Slush Fund sat in the death with Tact Chester and Shay Shay Shania behind these. Meganite was copping a lot of pressure from Slush Fund who was tying to quicken the pace to suit him. Tact Chester flushed out 400m from home but couldn't catch the stronger leaders and Shay Shay Shania was held up for a run. Over the line, Meganite crossed first to give Raz his second winner for the night and for the stable, ahead of Slush Fund by 1.2 metres.

Slush Fund was an excellent run in the death seat for second and Tact Chester after a few weeks break ran a good third. Trots this weekend are on Sunday. First race kicks off at 12.30pm. Come along for a fun day in the sun.
