The Silver City Racing Club is thrilled with the attendance at its cup meeting on Saturday.
President of the club, Dave Gallagher, said he was "very, very impressed with the day" and the crowd that was one of the best in years.
"It has been a fantastic day of racing. We have had a winner from every State - New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia," Mr Gallagher said.
He said the crowd also appeared to be up on last year's and those of previous years.
"I think the number of people who attended would have to be about 3,000," Mr Gallagher said.
"The crowd have been extremely well-behaved. Everyone seems to have enjoyed themselves."
A new feature of the race meeting, the marquee, was also a hit, Mr Gallagher said.
"We had over 90 people in the marquee today," he said.
The change from having tables and umbrellas to tables and shade sails also proved a positive.
"The introduction of sails (in front of the grandstand) is a bonus. They make the track look picturesque."
Mr Gallagher thanked the race club's committee for all their hard work, the sponsors for their patronage and the Broken Hill community for coming to the races.
He said the club's emphasis on making it a day for the whole family had well and truly paid off.
"The family aspect has been fantastic.
"The blue light disco run by the PCYC, the face painting and jumping castle were a success. The children have been entertained all day.
"The committee can't wait for 2013."
