Broken Hill Citizen of the Year Margaret Corradini said that she could not have received the award without help from the committees for the organisations she has worked tirelessly for.

Mrs Corradini has been the President of the St Patrick's Race Club since 2001, for which she devotes every weekend in the three months leading up to its race meeting.

She has a long history of community representation, with many past and present roles for various organisations .

These include the Broken Hill Regional Events Centre Reserve Trust, Silver City Cup Committee, Far West Regional Development Australia board and the P & C and Council for St Marys Infants, All Saints Primary and St Josephs High School.

Mrs Corradinini also presents an annual award at Sacred Heart Parish Primary School on behalf of her late husband John.

"I feel very honoured of course and I feel as though I've been awarded for something I actually love doing, I'm very grateful," she said.

"Without the committees I would not be receiving this award, I've worked with some of the most fantastic people and I accept this award on behalf of all these people as well. I cannot tell you how proud I am."
