Saturday night's harness race meeting saw the winners of each of the five races go to five different trainers.
The West Football Club's Cock Robin Syndicate got a win with their first ever starter, Guard Duty, who could string together a couple more wins in this grade.
Racing now has a week off and will be returning on Saturday, February 9 with all the same excitement and facilities.
Results:
RACE 1. MULGA HILL TAVERN PACE
- Guard Duty - P. Evans
- Saaremaa - R. Oates
- Emmas Operative - F. Stacey
Mile Rate: 2.12.
With Guard Duty showing adequate gate speed to lead, Paul Evans elected to set a slow pace. The favourite Nebo Gold galloped on the first turn and ended any chances she had.
The race never changed complextion at all and all place getters were 1, 2, 3 in the running.
RACE 2. DANNS OF BROKEN HILL PACE
- Dublin Dean - M. Pelvin
- Blue Star Village - R. Wayman
- Part Of The Union - F. Stacey
Mile Rate: 2.08.4
Initially marred by the scratching of the frontliner in Dontkidyourself, the lead was hard fought with Part Of The Union prevailing. At the 400m mark Dublin Dean made his run and went straight past the leaders to win from the fast finishing Blue Star Village second and third to the early pace maker Part Of The Union.
RACE 3. MARKWELLS AUTO GROUP MILDURA PACE
- Bettertobelucky - C. Robinson
- Imperial Phoenix - A. Camilleri
- Farewell Hanover - E. Hamblin
Mile Rate: 2.07.4
Little Tank flew the gate to lead but then was looking to hand up over the 2210 metres. First on the scene was Bettertobelucky who ran to the front and won from Imperial Phoenix who made a quick run around the field mid race and sat outside the eventful winner.
Third to Farewell Hanover on her best behaviour.
RACE 4. ANDREWS HAULAGE PACE
- Mattachiello - A. Camilleri
- Lee Cully - C. Robinson
- Walk With Kings - R. Slater
Mile Rate: 2.05.
Walk With Kings followed the mobile away to lead easily form Mattachiello, Barnover Cecil, Lee Cully, Take A Gamble and Bubble Wrap.
With Lee Cully moving up outside the leader Barnover Cecil one - one Mattachiello was at the leader's back until the run down the back straight where Mattachiello got out 3 wide and made his run to prove too strong for Lee Cully, another good effort, and third to Walk With Kings.
RACE 5. INDIGO FINANCIAL PACE
- Willoughby - A. Adams
- Beau Ceil - P. Evans
- Shay Shay Shania - A. Camilleri
Mile Rate: 2.05.1
Showing his second mid week in Mildura was no fluke, Willoughby sat parked for the first 1400ms before rolling to the front and winning well from Beau Ceil who chased hard into second with Shay Shay Shania battling into third.
