Service with a smile

Local man Phil Dowling got more than he bargained for when he took his car in for a service this week.
Mr Dowling's daughter Zali (4) has a number of birth defects which mean reflux travels from her bladder to her kidneys.
The devoted dad has already cashed in his superannuation and was planning to sell his car and motorbike to pay for a much-needed operation and further surgery in the future.
The family appeared in the BDT last week and has since been overwhelmed with community support.
Now Silver City Motors is hoping to help the family out by holding a sausage sizzle and car wash on Saturday from 9.30am.
Car dealer Kirsty Smith, who sold Mr Dowling his car recently, came up with the idea after reading about Zali's story.
"I read about it in the paper and I found it quite upsetting and thought we had to do something to help," she said.
Mr Dowling said he was surprised when Kirsty told him her plan.
"I was stunned at first, you don't expect car dealerships to help you out so personally like that," Mr Dowling said.
The good news is that Mr Dowling will no longer have to sell his car, however his motorbike has been polished and is ready for sale.
Countless members of the community have been generous, including resident Stan Gaylard who donated $2000, the Democratic Club ($500) and a donation tin is also present at the Sturt Club.
