The indoor pool at the Broken Hill Regional Aquatic Centre will be closed at the end of the month for a couple of weeks.
Pool Manager Shane Simmons said the 25 metre pool was closing for maintenance.
"The ramp in the pool has come away from the footing, so it need to be repaired," Mr Simmons said. "There will be repairs on the ramp and the railing in the pool."
He said the pool would be drained on the weekend of April 27 to make the repairs but the hydro pool will be open all day as well as the 50m pool.
"Another one of our main objectives was to shut down the pool to fix some missing joints in between the tiles at the bottom of the pool," Mr Simmons said.
"We don't want it to get worse, so we will drain the pool, wait for it to dry, reseal it and then cure it for 10 days."
He said while the 25m pool was closed, the 50m pool will have its temperature increased to compensate for the loss of the 25m pool.
On May 10, the 50m pool will close for the winter.
"Swimming clubs will be able to train inside in the 25 metre pool," Mr Simmons said.
"Generally, every five years pools need to be drained, tiles need to be descaled and replaced. This is all part of the maintenance."
Mr Simmons said people understood the situation. "The community recognised that further damage could result in potential lose of water," he said.
"But we are still able to provide the hydro pool, so locals won't miss out on exercise. The 50 metre pool will then open up mid-September."
The indoor 25m pool will be closed from Saturday April 27 to May 13.
All other facilities including the outdoor 50m pool, toddlers and hydro therapy pool, health and fitness club and kiosk will be open from 6am to 8pm.
Group fitness classes will be available at the YMCA Gym in Chloride Street.
