Two of Broken Hill's veteran table tennis players have returned victorious from the recent SA Masters Games in Orroroo.

Errol won two gold medals and a bronze, and Wal won a silver and a bronze medal.

Wal said he had to go down an age group because there was no one in the 80 years category.

"I had to play in the over 60's category," he said.

he described the competition as 'surprisingly good'.

"Each player provided good competition which surprised us," he said.

Both men practice table tennis three times a week.

"We used to compete years ago; we would get tapes from World Championship and we used to get people to come up and coach us," Errol said.

"We always kept up with it and practiced on a regular basis."

The men also have an automatic machine which throws out balls for them to hit against, if they don't have anyone to practice with.

"I would like to thank the Silver City Workingmen's Club for all their support and for letting us play and set up upstairs on their premises," Errol said.

Anyone interested in playing table tennis should contact Wal on 8087 6040 or Errol on 0432 084 565 for more information.
